Meta Ads Lens integration

View your paid media performance and spend alongside your sampling campaign data

Written by Dan

Meta Ads Lens is a read-only integration. Once you connect your Meta Ads Manager account, we automatically pull your ad targeting, spend and performance data into your campaign's Media Performance report, alongside creative thumbnails and full ad previews for all ads and ad sets driving leads to SoPost.

That gives you visibility into your live campaign without having to check in Meta Ads Manager separately. You can spot an underperforming ad or ad set early, see the actual creative behind the numbers, and make data driven decisions as your campaign progresses.

ℹ️ This is a direct integration with Meta Ads, and is standalone to our existing Facebook integration that is used for lead form creation and lead handling.

What we access

The integration requests a single Meta permission: ads_read.

✓ We access

  • Ad set targeting information (age, gender, etc)

  • Ad performance (impressions, clicks, leads, spend)

  • Creative names, placements and formats

  • Creative previews

✕ We do not

  • Create campaigns

  • Edit ads

  • Change budgets

  • Pause campaigns

  • Publish content

Connecting your Meta Ads account

As with our Facebook Pages integration, you'll need to set the integration up yourself. The steps are:

  1. Open Integrations. In Campaign Manager, go to Integrations and select Meta Ads (scroll down to the bottom of the integration list to see it).

  2. Review the permissions screen. It lists exactly what's accessed and what isn't, as mentioned above.

  3. Connect the account. Clicking Connect Meta Ads account opens Meta's own login and consent screen.

  4. Approve access. The person connecting needs to be logged into a Meta account with access to the ad account being linked.

  5. Choose ad account(s). Back in SoPost, pick which connected Meta ad account(s) to link. You can select multiple if needed.

What flows in, and how often

Refresh: hourly.

Structure: data is organised around individual ads, grouped and displayed by their ad set. That gives you a level of detail between a single campaign total and a single ad, which is where most creative and targeting decisions actually get made.

Per ad

  • Impressions, clicks, spend and leads (cost-per-lead is calculated for display)

  • Creative format (single image, carousel, etc.) and a creative thumbnail

  • A full, live ad preview, fetched from Meta on demand when you open an ad's detail

Per ad set

  • Targeting summary, currently age range and gender. We'll look at adding more over time.

What to do

No data shortly after connecting

First hourly sync hasn't run yet

Check back within the hour; escalate if still empty after that.

Connection shows an error

Access token expired or revoked in Meta

Ask the brand to reconnect via Integrations → Meta Ads.

Ad has no thumbnail

Video or catalogue ad with no static creative image

Expected — the full preview in the detail view still works.

Targeting looks partial

Only age range and gender are parsed today

Expected limitation, not a bug.

"Can you change our ads from here?"

No — the connection is strictly read-only (ads_read).

Numbers differ from Meta Ads Manager

Data can be up to an hour old

Confirm both sides use the same date range before escalating.
